Surrounding my home, in California, the trees and flowers are in
abundantly blooming this year due to the massive amount of rain this
past Winter. Birds, butterflies, animals scurrying about, all talking to
one another throughout the day. Nights are warming and clear, with
gentle breezes, stars twinkling. Life is bursting. I am full and
thankful.
So often we are rapt up in our families or jobs, paying bills, worrying
about this or that, rushing to and fro doing errands, hardly glimpsing
the sky or a tree, losing sight of the big picture of which we are a
part.
We are nearing the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. As we
in this part of the world reach the Solstice, we are able to spend these
extended hours of light drinking in this seasonal beauty all around us
and offering our gratitude to Mother Earth for her beauty, movement and
nurturing, and for our ability to appreciate all life.
We can heal ourselves by just spending some quiet time outdoors each
day, becoming part of the Earth elements and elementals, listening to
what they have to teach us - connecting with more of who we are.
Smelling the fragrances, hearing the songs, animals, birds, insects.
Viewing the colors of plants, flowers, trees, bushes, grasses,
mountains, the waters. Sensing the balance, love and rhythms in nature.
Tuning into and echoing the Earth's heartbeat. We chose to be part of
this rare and magnificent planet!
As you look around and absorb what you are sensing, think about what you
are feeling. Do you feel the sun? Do you see spirits in the clouds? Are
you seeing the moon at night? Watching shooting stars? Feeling the wind?
Watching fish in the ocean or laying down next to your pet? Do you feel
your body tensing up, or relaxing? What do you most focus on in life?
What do you fear and why? What gives you the greatest joy? What do you
most value?
What gift from your Self can you create and offer to the beauty of
nature, to life, future generations?
Do you want your children, all of Earth's children and the Earth, to be
left a legacy of war, violence, destruction, pain, poverty, pollution,
barreneness, ignorance, disease, separation, fear, powerlessness? Or, a
legacy of beauty, trust, love, joy, balance, intimacy, fruitfulness,
empowerment, responsibility, freedom, awareness, integrity, health,
wisdom: all that reflect our true nature and being one with nature?
Look around you. What do you really feel? What is most important for
you? Whatever you think, say, or do becomes our reality - and we are
co-creating it. And as we reach the Solstice - we have immense power and
fertility to bring about the fullness of our wishes and put them into
motion. What kind of future do you envision for yourself and others? See
it, feel it, hear it, know it, be it. And it CAN be now. The choice is
(y)ours.
